The pattern behind pony names

Most My Little Pony names follow a two-word recipe: an adjective, color, or natural element joined to a noun tied to the pony's special talent. Rainbow Dash captures motion and color. Pinkie Pie blends a hue with a sweet treat. Fluttershy stitches a verb to a feeling.
