What a Shadow Name carries

In Mage: The Awakening, a Shadow Name is more than a handle. It is the mask the Awakened present to other mages, a promise about who they want to be, and a weapon Sleepers and rivals can use if it slips into the wrong ledger. A good Shadow Name hints at Path without confessing it, and at Order without saluting. Acanthus might lean on chance, fortune, and threshold words. Mastigos prefers sharp, predatory syllables. Obrimos reaches for thunder and clean fire. Thyrsus sounds rooted, animal, weather-bitten. Moros tastes of stone, dust, and quiet endings.

How to use the results

Roll several names and read them aloud before settling. Ask which one your mage would sign on a pact, which one they would whisper to a dying Sleepwalker, and which one their first mentor still uses to scold them. Pair the alias with a brief vow: what the name forbids, and what it demands. That tension turns a label into a character.
