The Anouki of the Snow Realm
Anouki appear most prominently in Phantom Hourglass on the Isle of Frost and in Spirit Tracks at Anouki Village in the Snow Realm. They are short, round, and covered in thick white fur, with tall antlers and colorful pointed hats that mark individual personalities. Despite their cute appearance, the Anouki are stubborn negotiators, suspicious of outsiders at first, and quick to argue among themselves about which neighbor is secretly a Yook in disguise. Their culture revolves around herding, weather watching, and protecting the spirit tower at the heart of their lands.
What Anouki names sound like
Canon Anouki names are short, often two syllables, and built from soft repeating sounds. Think Aroo, Noko, Honcho, Tula, Conda, and Fofo. Many names use double vowels or doubled consonants to create a bouncy, sing-song rhythm. Names rarely include harsh consonants like K at the start, and almost never use long human-style surnames. A good Anouki name should feel small, warm, and a little playful when you say it out loud.
Using the generator
Roll until you find a name that suits your character's role in the village. A grumpy elder might be Garo or Bunbo, while a cheerful trader could be Pippi or Lulu. If you are naming a whole village, try grouping names by sound family so the cast feels related without being identical. The generator works equally well for Yook names if you want a rival from across the snowfield, since both peoples share a similar phonetic palette.
Perfect for Zelda projects
Fan fiction writers expanding the Spirit Tracks era, tabletop groups running Hyrulean campaigns, and indie devs building Zelda-inspired games will find usable results here. The Anouki are underused in the wider fandom, so original characters have plenty of room to grow. Pick a name, give them a hat color, and send them out into the snow.
