Origin of Unsullied Names
In the books and the show, every Unsullied draws a new name from a stone bowl each morning. The name is always a creature, insect, or object considered low, paired with a number, such as Grey Worm, Red Flea, Black Rat Three, or Stone Snake Four. The practice is meant to teach the soldier that his name and life are nothing, only the unit matters. Many keep the name they wore on the day Daenerys freed them.
How the Generator Works
Each result combines three parts in the canon style. First a color or descriptor like Grey, Red, Black, Blind, or Broken. Second a humble creature or object such as Worm, Roach, Flea, Rat, Toad, Pebble, or Spider. Third a number, usually small, written as a word. The combination creates names that fit seamlessly beside Grey Worm, Stalwart Shield, and the other named Unsullied from canon material.
Using the Names in Story
Pick a name and decide what the soldier did with it after liberation. Did he keep it because his brothers fell beside him under that name? Did he trade it for a free name from Old Valyria, a Ghiscari word, or a title earned in battle? Build a short backstory covering his training under the masters, his first kill, his role in the sack of Astapor, and his loyalty to Daenerys, the Sons of the Harpy resistance, or a quieter life as a city guard.
Best Uses
The generator suits Game of Thrones fan fiction, A Song of Ice and Fire roleplay forums, tabletop campaigns set in Slaver's Bay, and original characters joining the Mother of Dragons on her march. Game masters can stock a barracks with a dozen distinct Unsullied in seconds, giving each freed soldier a name worth remembering even if his old masters never bothered.
Craft Your Unsullied Name
Creating a name for your Unsullied character can be an exciting journey. Consider these questions to inspire a unique and fitting name that embodies the essence of the Unsullied.

- Are there any specific sounds or syllables that resonate with you for a name?
- Do you prefer a short name or a longer, more elaborate one?
