Terms of Service
This is the authoritative English version of the Terms of Service.
These Terms of Service govern your use of The Story Shack, including its generators, account features, Chest, and related paid features.
If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.
1. Operator
The Story Shack is operated by Martin Hooijmans. Questions about these terms can be sent to info@thestoryshack.com.
2. Accounts and authentication
Some features require an account. Authentication is provided through Supabase, using magic-link email login and, where available, Google sign-in.
You are responsible for:
- Using a valid email address
- Keeping access to your email account secure
- All activity that happens through your account
The Story Shack may suspend or restrict accounts that abuse the service or create security or operational risks.
3. Saved ideas and your content
You keep ownership of the account data and content you personally provide to The Story Shack, such as usernames, account preferences, and any material you directly submit yourself.
Saved generator results and other Story Shack-generated outputs remain part of the service, but you are permitted to use them in your own projects. Because generated results can overlap with existing names, brands, or works, you remain responsible for doing your own due diligence before commercial or public use.
You grant The Story Shack a limited license to store, process, sync, and display the data you provide only as needed to operate the service for you.
Your content is not used to train AI models.
4. Premium features and billing
Some features may require a paid subscription. Billing, tax handling, renewals, and payment processing are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record.
If you subscribe:
- Pricing, billing intervals, and trial terms are shown at checkout
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
- You can cancel future renewals through the subscription provider or by contacting support
- Failure to complete payment may result in loss of access to paid features
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service unlawfully
- Attempt to interfere with the site's operation or security
- Abuse automated access beyond documented or reasonable use
- Use the service to harass others or violate third-party rights
The Story Shack may restrict access or remove content where necessary to protect the service, comply with law, or prevent abuse.
6. Generated content
The Story Shack permits you to use generated names and ideas in your own projects. However, because generated results can overlap with existing names, brands, or works, you remain responsible for doing your own due diligence before commercial or public use.
7. Third-party services
The Story Shack depends on third-party services, including:
- Supabase for authentication and account-linked data
- Lemon Squeezy for billing and subscriptions
- Google if you choose Google sign-in
- Snigel for advertising
- GoatCounter for privacy-focused analytics
Use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Availability and changes
The Story Shack is provided on an "as available" basis. Features may change, be improved, or be removed over time.
I try to keep the service stable, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Story Shack is provided without warranties of any kind. I am not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or data loss that could have been avoided through reasonable backups.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it cannot legally be excluded.
10. Privacy
How personal data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
