Story Shack was founded in November 2011 by me (Martin Hooijmans), as a place on the web where I could feature my short stories. A few months later I was joined by illustrator friend Lars de Ruyter, who made fitting art for the stories on a weekly basis. The concept was born, and soon The Story Shack became a place where not only Lars and myself, but authors and illustrators from all over the world published their work.

Quite a few years later, Story Shack has transformed from a flash fiction magazine into a world of ideas where you can not only read close to a thousand short stories, but also generate ideas for your next storytelling adventures, practice your writing, get world-building assistance and so much more. I've been doing this thing for over 10 years now, and I still find inspiration to keep working on it.
